How does a septic tank work — Wichita Falls, TX
Last updated: September 24, 2026
What affects the price
The final bill for septic work depends on a few specific variables. First, the size of your tank and the total volume of waste removal play a role. We also look at the accessibility of your tank lids; if they are buried deep underground or hidden under landscaping, extra labor is required to reach them. The distance from our truck to the tank also impacts the setup time. Every property has unique plumbing needs, and exact pricing is confirmed free on the call.
About this service
At its simplest, a septic tank is an underground chamber that collects all the water leaving your home. Solids settle to the bottom to form sludge, while grease and oils float to the top as scum. The liquid in the middle flows out into the drain field for natural filtration through the soil. Bacteria inside the tank naturally break down the solid waste, but the system relies on you to manage what goes down the drain to keep it healthy.
